Bruce D. Sherman
Senior Vice President of Portfolio Management
Bruce joined Telos Capital Management, Inc. in July, 2007 to oversee the management of the Sherman Core Portfolios. In this role, he works directly with clients to help them define their investment objectives and to develop and implement appropriate investment strategies to help them achieve their goals. He also conducts extensive research on equity and fixed income securities to determine their suitability for the Sherman Core Portfolios. As part of his research methodology, he first assesses a company's intrinsic value through comprehensive fundamental research. Then using technical analysis techniques, he trades around core stock positions; specifically, selling to lock in profits, and adding to positions when opportunity arises.
Prior to joining Telos Capital Management, Inc., Bruce owned and managed Sherman Investment Management, Inc. (SIMI), which he founded in 1999 and successfully managed through 2007. He was responsible for all aspects of the business including security selection and trading, client relations, and legal/corporate/licensing compliance issues. Prior to founding SIMI, Bruce managed his own portfolio for eight years, during which time he refined his methods for securities analysis and trading around core portfolio positions. Prior to managing assets, he was the Vice President of Marketing for TeleSoft, a computer software company, from 1981 to 1991. This background in technology provided a great deal of expertise useful in investment selection in the technology sector. At TeleSoft he managed a team of professionals in the San Diego area and also traveled frequently to Europe and is quite familiar with European business practices, which helps him to analyze international stocks for potential investment.
A graduate from the University of California, San Diego Bruce has a major in Management Science and a minor in Computer Science. He completed the Stanford University Advanced Management College and Stanford Program on Market Strategy for Technology-Based Companies. Bruce passed the license exams for the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Series 7 and 65 licenses.
Bruce lives with his wife, Susan, in the Mt. Helix area of San Diego. Bruce is an avid tournament bridge player and also enjoys international travel, jazz, and musical theater.
